Guidant Corporation is recalling certain implantable defibrillators because the devices have been known to develop a short circuit without warning, resulting in failure to deliver a shock when needed. Nearly 50,000 guidant defibrillators have been recalled because they have been known to cause serious injury or death. Guidant Pacemakers
